Little is known about the history of the school colors of Scotia Seminary, except that they are medium shades of gray and “true blue”.

Academic hood lists published by the Intercollegiate Bureau of Academic Costume (IBAC) in 1927, 1948, and 1972 described Scotia Seminary as having a hood lined gray with a blue (1927, 1948) or dark blue (1972) chevron. The Bureau typically used the word “gray” to describe a medium shade of gray (which was consistent with the college’s shade of gray) but by the early 1970s Scotia must have been using a navy blue instead of the college’s traditional “true blue” shade. Here the original IBAC assignment has been retained to avoid duplicating the hood lining the Bureau had earlier assigned to Georgetown University (gray with a navy blue chevron).
