The academic colors of Mount Saint Mary College are the Dominican colors of black and white, but the athletic color of the college is blue.

In 1964, the Intercollegiate Bureau of Academic Costume (IBAC) assigned Mount St. Mary College a hood lined white with two black chevrons for the college’s first graduating class of 32 students. This description of the college’s hood lining did not appear in any list published by the Bureau, but has been confirmed by a Mount St. Mary College bachelor’s hood purchased in 1970 from Cotrell & Leonard, the depository for the Intercollegiate Bureau.

The Bureau used two chevrons to avoid duplicating the hood lining it had already assigned to Virginia Theological Seminary prior to 1923.
